Weight Loss

Diets don’t work! It is a painful fact...

When your body recognises there is less food being consumed it goes into famine mode. It produces an enzyme called Lipoprotein Lipase which helps you to store extra fat which will only be used in an emergency (imminent death). You are now a super efficient fat-storage machine.

Just to be sure, the Lipoprotein remains in the body for up to 3 months, even after the perceived famine (diet) is over. So as soon as you start eating more food after your diet, your body will send it all straight to storage, making you fatter than before!

And then to top it all the body, to preserve that store of fat, will start to use the lean mass (muscles & bone) as it’s fuel, and so your diet seems to have worked. Now, as there is less muscle & bone, your body needs less calories to keep it going so it’s natural process is to slow the metabolic rate, which means as soon as you stop your diet you put on weight quicker than before. Which is why so many people who have tried every diet going find they are eating less and less but still putting on weight.

Don’t suffer any longer!

Hypnotherapy & Weight Issues

There are many reasons why people have weight or eating problems; perhaps food was used as a reward in childhood, or perhaps it was used to soothe you when you were hurt or upset, it could have even been a source of control in childhood or it may be that you are hiding in an overweight body or that being large gets attention (maybe not the sort you really want but attention all the same). These, and many more reasons, are subconsciously held beliefs, and there are clues in when you eat. The subconscious can tell us the source of these beliefs which is why hypnosis is so successful in weight issues.

We can talk straight to the subconscious, eating can become a conscious decision not a reaction to emotional stress. You can learn to listen to your body, eat when you are hungry and stop when you have had enough. Post hypnotic suggestion can also help to encourage enjoyment in exercise, healthy foods and good eating habits.

Hypnotherapy addresses the issues you have with food, self-esteem and body image. And, because metabolism is controlled by your autonomic system at a subconscious level, hypnosis can also help to slow your metabolism so your body will burn calories slower and build up slowly and healthily until you are at your ideal weight and shape or speed your metabolism so that you burn calories quicker to help you reduce your weight.

Weight Gain

For women, if you are naturally skinny, it can be hard for people to understand that it can be a problem. We live in a society which has been given the 6ft tall size 8 (or even smaller) models and celebrities as its ideal. But for those who don’t want to be a model, but want a healthy looking body, even voluptuous, you don’t get much support from those around you.

For men, it is more accepted that you want a strong, muscled body, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you want to be a body builder and, after going through a growth spurt during puberty, young men can often find themselves uncomfortable with, or even embarrassed by, their bodies.

The other, more dangerous, side to underweight is those who are not naturally ectomorphic, those who diet extremely, anorexics & bulimics and those on the verge of those diseases.

Getting my lifelong weight struggle under control has come from a process of treating myself as well as I treat others in every way.
